While Taiwanese Hokkien is no longer discouraged from being learned and spoken in Taiwan, the years of its suppression by the KMT appears to have had a lasting effect as it is hard to find books and online resources to learn it. I fear that without enough resources readily available, the language will deterioate over time with each generation of Taiwanese living outside Taiwan.
